Commercial Case Study: AB Agri - Traffic Management
Listed Under: Advice
AB Agri is the agricultural division of ABF, a diversified, international food, ingredients and retail group with sales of £13.4bn and over 130,000 employees in 50 countries. AB Agri operates internationally through six key business groups; their UK hub is based in Lynchwood, Peterborough and homes 500 staff.
Prior to this brief, the AB Agri car park was open for the public to enter and park for free, in addition there was no security in place to manage vehicular access.
With a large number of staff, yet limited parking spaces, AB Agri required a system that would protect the allocated parking spaces, ensuring that there are always spaces for those who require them.
Their secondary objective was to limit trespassing and act as a deterrent when unauthorised visitors approach the site, and of course monitor access to the building by vehicles.
When AB Agri contacted PPVS for advice; they recommended a Bft Maxima Ultra barrier system, complete with dual height intercoms for both cars and vans, as well as HGV’s.
Firstly, civil engineering works required to widen the road, allowing for the two barriers with in/out flow.
The Bft Products Used:
2 x Maxima Ultra 35 Barriers
2 x Red and green light kit for Maxima Ultras
2 x 315MM CIRCULAR STOP SIGN
2 x LD200 2 Channel Loop Detector 230V BOX
2 x 24V AC/DC Desme Hard Wired Photocells
1 x Dual Height Intercom with Keypad (HGV and CAR)
1 x 4000 Range Keypad
1 x 3 Module Surface Mount Back Box 4000 Series
2 x S/S Car/HGV Height Post 2000mm/1200mm High
PPVS, using the Bft Maxima Ultra barriers, have successfully stopped trespassers parking in the carpark and unauthorised access is no longer possible. The business now have the correct number of parking spaces for the allocated staff members; which is very positive for those staff members who were previously effected.
Louis Joyce of PPVS commented, “AB Agri are extremely happy with the final installation and are pleased with the access control and Bft barriers.”
